This exhibition, “A Natural History Around Trees,” is “A” natural history about trees written, as the first letter of the English title indicates. In other words, it is a story of trees written by Shuji Yamamoto.In order to realize this story, this small history, the exhibition will be cross-disciplinary, centering on oil paintings, woodblock prints, photo books, radio, and installations. All of these works show the relationship between Yamamoto and nature (trees).
本展『樹木学 A Natural History Around Trees』は英題の頭文字が『the』ではなく『a』であるように『ある一つ』の樹木の自然史である。そう、つまり山本修路が紡ぐ一つの樹木の物語なのだ。この物語、この小史の実現のため、本展はオイルペインティングを中心に木版画、フォトブック、ラジオ、インスタレーションと領域横断的に展開される。それらの作品はどれも山本と自然(木々)の関わりを見せてくれる。
